The Nimble Weaver

Little spider on a thread

Spinning at your sticky web,

Silently you wind each strand,

Weave it to a pattern planned.

Nimble weaver,

Hear me sigh
All that work to catch a fly!

Outside Play Area Blog 2016

Daisies by IrisRedesigning the wildlife area

Our wildlife and pond area had gradually become overgrown and unusable. But now with the enthusiasm of one parent and the prospect of obtaining some funding, we have developed this space into a great environment for play and learning. We have now obtained some extra funding through Torbay Community Development Trust which has enabled to purchase a greenhouse and provide a base for our sandpit in this area.

November 2016

We spent a lovely afternoon tidying the garden. There were lots of leaves to rake up and put onto the compost heap, but with four willing helpers the job was quickly done.

July 2016

Our sunflowers have been growing very quickly so have needed daily watering. They have now started to come into flower and make a great splash of colour. With the help of some of the children we have tidied the inside of the willow dome and put some bark down making it an ideal place for a story. Moving the logs in the dome we discovered a great insect world.

May 2016

The sunflower seeds that we planted a few weeks ago have now appeared and are growing quickly so we have been busy replanting them into bigger pots. We had a new visitor today, now we know where all of the nuts go!

Spring 2016

With spring very much in evidence, the bluebells and daffodils are in full bloom. We set about tying the willow back in shape as it has grown so much in the last few months. 'Phil' the pheasant has reappeared and is now a daily visitor to the field behind Pre-School.
