January

With most days being damp and dreary it was really great to take advantage of a nice crispy frosty morning to check on the pond and bird feeders as well as read the thermometer. The pond was frozen over and we had fun trying to crack it. There was ice in the water for the birds and their food was running low so we topped up the seed and nuts and then went back in the warm and watched the birds through the window flying in and out, using the willow as a shelter. We are lucky to have a pair of Jays, a Nuthatch, a Robin, lots of Blue Tits, Long tailed Tits, Sparrows visiting daily and not forgetting the Collared Pidgeons who wait for the seeds that the other birds drop on the grass.
