The children continue to impress us with the way they have settled into our preschool routine and we've had a lovely first week looking at our first occupation for this term; Builders and Construction. We created our very own preschool construction office, with children taking customer orders over the phone, others drawing out the plans for the builds and the final stage of using our wooden bricks to make their constructions!
For our outdoor play we built various constructions using our planks, tyres, wooden boxes and crates - the children turned our resources into walkways, dens and car ramps. It was lovely to watch everyone working together co-operatively to create the end designs. The children took their roles very seriously and even the staff were asked to take part in an interview process to make sure they were up to the job!
Our story times this week have been focused on the story of The Three Little Pigs. We created our own houses of sticks, straw and bricks and re-enacted the story. On Friday we rounded off our week by taking a walk to the local house building site at Taylor Wimpey. We watched the brick layers building up the house walls, inspected the local park construction and finally checked the pond to see if there were any animals living there.
We also picked our two small pumpkins this week that we have grown over the summer.
Next week we are going to be looking at travel agents and airports.
