We have looking at bakeries and have spent the week very busy in the kitchen.
We started off the week with a walking trip for our older children to Asda to buy the ingredients for this week’s baking activities.
On Monday we baked items for snack this week; making banana and raspberry muffins along with a banana and kiwi cake. Tuesday and Wednesday we were making bread rolls, each child kneaded and shaped the dough before baking in the oven and taking it home at the end of the day. Finally to finish off the week we made soda bread to eat for the remainder of our snacks.
The children have been working on their knife skills, helping to prepare our morning snacks. Using our child friendly knives they have been chopping the apples and bananas.
For our story we have been reading “Is there anyone like me”, focusing on our individuality and uniqueness. The children have been looking at what makes us the same and what makes us different, they were asked to stand up if they had blonde hair or brown hair, curly hair or straight hair. We have also been comparing our heights, sorting ourselves into a line with the tallest at one end and the shortest at the other.
As the season is starting to change we have also been keeping an eye on the weather and celebrating that autumn is finally here with autumn collages and paintings.
Next week we are looking at the emergency services and we are very excited to be having some special guests throughout the week.
