This week we enjoyed a nature hunt in our wildlife garden as we took a closer look at mini beasts. The children were left to explore the garden and see what they could find, equipped with their hunt sheet and magnifying glass. They quickly discovered around the pond and under the logs were the best places to investigate!
We have begun our nature display in our playroom with the children making lots of little ladybirds. After making the body, the children began counting out the spots to put on their ladybirds before gluing them on.
Some of the children helped to pot on the radishes that have grown really quickly and to plant our strawberries runners that are now established enough to fill in the gaps in our strawberry container.
The children made perfume this week using old flowers and water. Using scissors, they cut up the flowers and petals before mixing them together and sieving them into potion bottles.
After the flowers proved so popular we have decided to continue the topic into next week and will be setting up a florist for our role play as well as looking at bees, nectar and honeycomb.
