Summer Activites week 7

We've had a very busy week at preschool this week.
We were so pleased to see the weather was mostly on our side on Wednesday and our beach trip went ahead as planned. After catching the bus to Goodrington beach, the children began a scavenger hunt with their buckets to find what treasures they could find in the sand. After filling our buckets the children set about making nature portraits and created some fantastic smiley faces. We also enjoyed a sand building competition, with the children being split into 3 teams to create their sculptures. To finish off our adventure we went to the ice cream shop before catching the bus back to preschool.
On Thursday  we discussed the various things we had seen at the beach and drew some beach pictures to take home. We continue to add to our seaside display in the play room with the addition of beach huts and some more of our sea creatures.
This week was also the beginning of our forest school for the older children, they spent their morning session out in the wildlife garden decorating wood cookies, bug hunting and den building. Once the den was built they sat around the campfire and toasted some teacakes for their snack.
We continue to focus on our shape and number recognition with various activities throughout the week for our younger children and they have been busy creating something special for Father's Day next weekend.
