Summer Activites week 6

Welcome back to our final term of this year where our topic will be the seaside / under the sea. This week we have been discussing what creatures we can find in the sea and making some of our own for our wall display. The children covered a toilet roll tube in the colour of their choice before adding features such as eyes, tentacles, shells or pincers to create their animal. We have a fantastic wall display of crabs, octopus, fish and sea turtles. Next week we will be further adding to our display as we look more closely at what can be found at the beach.
Before the holidays we were kindly donated a hedgehog wildlife garden which the children started off this week, we continue to water it and check each day to see if we can see any growth on our hedgehog. You may have also noticed we have begun a second growing project, with our beans and peas in zip lock bags hanging from the windows. We are going to be watching how a seed germinates and the process it goes through as it develops it's roots.
We had hoped to start off our topic with a trip to the beach for our older children, however unfortunately the weather was not on our side and we have rescheduled it to try again next week. If you have any questions regarding the trip please just ask on the door.
