I’m sure you all agree it’s been a very hot one this week and the children have coped so well. We have spent the majority of our days inside, avoiding the main heat of the sun and doing calm, quiet activities to avoid lots of movement. We’ve played lots of group circle games and table top games / puzzles as well as building a room sized train track.
When we have been able to go outside we’ve spent time in our wildlife garden where we found it to be the coolest. Our sunflowers continue to grow well and the children have begun repotting them into bigger pots. We also went on a nature bug hunt and had lots and lots of water play!
For our literacy this week the children have been practicing mark making with sand writers. Using their fine motor skills, they pull the trigger on the writer to allow the sand to fall from the funnel and draw pictures. We had some lovely creations ranging from caterpillars to tornados whilst others made excellent attempts to write the letters of their names.
Forest school continued for our older children with them completing nature watercolour pictures as well as making clay creations, which will be coming home shortly.
As our end of term events edge ever closer we have been very busy preparing our songs for the play and continuing to practice our races for sports day.
