For our final week of half term we have been busy practicing our bat and ball skills with a table tennis competition. We saw some fantastic bat skills and it was clear some children play at home or on their holidays!
We finished our wall display this week with our butterflies, with the children using bubble wrap to print onto a piece of card before cutting it into butterfly wings and attaching it to pipe cleaners. For our younger children we turned our hands to clay sculptures, rolling out the clay into a sausage shape they then curled it round and round to make a snail. We will dry these out over the half term holiday before painting them on our return. For our mathematics, our younger children have been working on their counting using a spiders web and spiders.
On Tuesday the children created a mini beast snack! Using celery and cream cheese for bodies the children made caterpillars, butterflies and snails
This week we were finally able to reveal our pressed flowers that we completed a few weeks ago, using butterfly outlines and sticky back plastic the children placed the flowers to create their own stunning wings.
On Friday we enjoyed a walk to the local Taylor Wimpey building site as they were using their diggers and dumper trucks to transfer soil and repair some of the roads. The workman showed us how they change the ends of the digger arms to scoops, buckets or blades to carry out different jobs. The children walked really well so on our way back we called into the church as they had just finished their service and spent some time singing our songs to the visiting vicar.
That just leaves us to say we hope everyone enjoys their half term holiday and we look forward to welcoming the children back into preschool on Monday 1st June.
