We’ve enjoyed welcoming back all the children into preschool over the last fortnight as well as settling in our new children. We’ve been really pleased with how well the children have settled into our routine and taken part in our activities.
This half term we are going to be looking at “The Arts” and this week we have been looking at ballet dancing and woodwind instruments. We enjoyed clips from both Swan Lake and The Nutcracker ballet before having a go at learning the different ballet positions ourselves. We were fortunate to have a parent volunteer come in to preschool on Thursday to introduce the flute to the children. After playing a few tunes for them, the children each had a go at playing it themselves. If any parents are able to play an instrument and are willing to share it with us please let us know!
We have played outside as much as the weather would allow us but on days when it hasn’t been possible we have been upstairs in the hall and completed obstacle courses. In the hall, the children were challenged to collect all the coloured balls and sort them into baskets which they thoroughly enjoyed.
For our mathematics we continue to focus on number and shape recognition. Using our magna tiles the children were challenged to follow the shape pattern and make the number.
Next weekend is the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch so we will be completing activities related to this next week.
