Spring Activities week 5

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week we were very fortunate to be able to go to the church and have a talk from one of the bell ringers. It also included a small demonstration of each bell to showcase the different sounds they make. The children learnt the names for the parts in the mechanism including the Tail and the Sally.  Then the real fun began as each children had a turn at ringing the bells! Initially we had a few hesitant children however the excitement quickly took over and they were pulling the ropes with gusto.

For the remainder of the week it was drumming time. The children watched several different marching bands videos before having a go at keeping time with the beat themselves. It’s always a popular one when we do drumming week as the children really throw themselves into it!

This week we also discovered the hidden talents of our staff members; Michann brought in her clogs from her time of clog dancing and Laura showed us how to line dance.

Once again the weather hasn’t been on our side for outside play however we have managed to get out as often as we can. The children have thoroughly enjoyed their time out in the mud, riding their bikes through the small ditch “off roading” and mixing mud with water to do “mud painting”.

Next week we have been invited back to the church, this time to play the church organ.
